We are building a newsroom for people who read to the end. If that sounds like you, there is a desk here with your name on it.

The frontpage team in a morning editorial meeting

A newsroom worth staying in

  • newsroom

    Stories, not slots

We don't chase every trend. You get the time to report a story properly, and the reach of a newsroom publishing across YouTube, Instagram and the web every day.

  • flexible

    Work where you think best

Hybrid by default. Be in the Jubilee Hills newsroom when a story needs a room full of people, and work from wherever when it doesn't.

  • growth

    Learn on the record

An annual budget for courses, conferences and gear, plus a weekly session where the team pulls apart what worked and what flopped.

  • kit

    Proper kit

Cameras, audio, edit machines and software that stay out of the way, so the idea is the hard part and not the render.

  • people

    Small team, short path

There are no layers to pitch through. If you walk in with a story at ten, you can be filming it by two.

  • balance

    Sane hours, real breaks

News doesn't stop, so we rotate. Shifts are planned a month ahead, and time off actually means off.

  • Nobody here asks how many posts you shipped. They ask whether the story was right, and whether it was worth someone's evening.

  • I pitched a Short on my second day and cut it that week. That still happens, and it is the reason I stayed.

  • When a story needs another week, I get another week. That is rarer in this industry than it should be.

How we work

Six things the newsroom holds itself to, whoever is on the byline.

  1. Accuracy first

If we are not sure, we don't publish. A day late beats a correction.

  2. Show the work

Sources, documents and numbers are linked, named and in the script.

  3. Plain language

No jargon, no hedging. If a sentence needs a second read, we rewrite it.

  4. Honest feedback

Every story gets a review, and every review says the useful thing out loud.

  5. Credit by name

Reporters, editors, shooters and designers all go in the credits.

  6. Respect the audience

No bait, no outrage for reach. We earn the next click by being worth this one.

We are always looking for good people

These are the roles we recruit for regularly. Unless it is listed below as open, treat it as a description of the job rather than a live vacancy.

No opening that fits? Write anyway. We keep every portfolio and come back to them when a desk opens up.
